Longyearbyen floating quayPublisert: 16. May, 2018
To increase the quay capacity in Longyearbyen, a new floating concrete quay facility is planned. Dr.techn.Olav Olsen will lead the given by the Coastal Administration.
The floating terminal adds approx. 300 meters of quay length to the Longyearbyen Harbor. This is necessary to handle the increasing cruise and expedition traffic around the archipelago and it also provides better freight handling facilities. The terminal will have a great potential for flexible areas inside the quay construction as well as on deck, where a terminal building will be placed.
Dr.techn. Olav Olsen with subcontractors will lead the design work involving the concrete hull w/anchoring, landing, mooring and superstructure. We will draw upon a long history of marine concrete structures, including recent floating terminal studies.
