With an increasing involvement in recent years, the design of bridges has been a natural part of Dr.techn. Olav Olsen’s activity ever since it was founded in 1962. More recently the company has been involved in the development of novel crossing concepts for bridges in both air and water. The company has a unique background in developing submerged floating tunnel concepts, and has conducted several studies for crossings in Norway and abroad.

The process of modern bridge design requires expert engineering skills, creativity and esthetical flair. We selectively have concentrated our talent on crossing projects where we can take advantage of efficient structural systems, developments in materials or construction techniques to create elegant and innovative designs. The capability to combine esthetical quality with cost efficiency has been a success factor in bridge design competitions. Dr.techn. Olav Olsen conducts designs of different type of bridges and other relevant infrastructures such as tunnel portals, culverts and retaining structures. The company also possess extensive experience within bridge management and performs main- and special inspections, structural integrity assessments, reinforcement and modification assignments. Our clients are both bridge owners and contractors.
