Stortorvet 7, a landmark for architecture and sustainable urban development in Oslo, has recently received honor and acclaim by winning two of the most prestigious awards in the industry: the City Prize 2024 and Building of the Year 2023.

The project includes nearly the entire quarter between Stortorvet, Nedre Slottsgate, Karl Johans gate, and Grensen. With a comprehensive renovation of 32,000 square meters of existing structures and the addition of 4,000 square meters of new construction, the project stands as a leading example of transformation and innovation in Oslo's city center. Dr.techn.Olav Olsen has been an advisor on structural engineering in the project and has been instrumental in all phases of realizing this transformation.

Combining the reuse of historic buildings with modern architecture and sustainable solutions, Stortorvet 7 has become a symbol of future urban development in Oslo. During the national City Conference in Oslo, organized by the "Norsk Eiendom", Stortorvet 7 was awarded the City Prize 2024. This prize honors property developers who have excelled in their new construction or renovation projects. The jury highlighted Stortorvet 7 as one of the largest transformation projects in the city center, recognizing its contribution to developing better buildings, cities, and communities. The project impressed with its comprehensive transformation of an entire quarter, including the reuse of historic buildings and innovative solutions to increase workplace numbers in the city center.

Shortly after, Stortorvet 7 was named Building of the Year 2023 during "Byggedagene" held at Clarion Hotel The Hub in Oslo. This award, presented by "Byggeindustrien", acknowledges projects with outstanding execution and quality. Stortorvet 7 was praised for its balance between preservation of history and innovation. The jury emphasized the good collaboration between the parties, the focus on sustainable solutions, and the project's significance as a central element in Oslo's cityscape.

We are proud to be recognized by both industry professionals and expert juries with this double triumph. Project managers, architects, contractors, and all involved parties have dedicated countless hours to realizing the project. Vedal Contractors have supported Schage Eiendom throughout the development, project management, and execution of the works, which began in April 2020.
